History
Early Days
For a long time in the early 1800s, the land where Biggers is now was part of a big farm owned by Arkansas governor Thomas Stevenson Drew.
How Biggers Got Its Name
Later, in 1889, a smart businessman named Benjamin Franklin Bigger bought the land. He started a ferry service to help people cross the river and also built a distillery. The town was named after him!
The Railroad Arrives
In 1901, something important happened: a train station, called a depot, was built. This was because the Southern Missouri and Arkansas Railroad (which later became part of the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway) was completed. The railroad helped the town grow.
