Birdland is a neighborhood in San Diego, California. It is located between major roads like California State Route 163, Interstate 805, and Mission Valley. Many of the streets in Birdland are named after different kinds of birds, which is how the community got its unique name!

It's important not to mix up Birdland with other places. For example, there's a neighborhood called Bird Rock in La Jolla. Also, some streets in Mission Hills are named after birds, but that's not Birdland either.

Even though Birdland is its own community, it's part of a larger area in San Diego called the Serra Mesa Planning Area. A City Council member, Scott Sherman, currently represents this area.

Most of Birdland was built a while ago, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In older plans, this area was sometimes called "El Dorado." While many people live in single-family homes here, there are also three large apartment buildings.
