Black Cap is a cool mountain in Conway, New Hampshire, in the United States. It sits right between Kearsarge North Mountain and Peaked Mountain. From its rocky top, you can see amazing views of Maine and New Hampshire's famous White Mountains. A fun place called Cranmore Mountain Resort is located on a smaller peak next to Black Cap, called Cranmore Mountain.

Exploring Black Cap Mountain

Black Cap is part of a long line of hills called the Green Hills. This ridge stretches from north to south. A ridge is like a long, narrow chain of hills or mountains.

Neighboring Peaks and Waterways

To the north of Black Cap, you'll find Hurricane Mountain, which is about 2,100 feet (640 meters) tall. To the southwest, there's Middle Mountain, standing at about 1,857 feet (566 meters).

All the water that flows off Black Cap Mountain ends up in the Saco River. This river then travels all the way to the Gulf of Maine, which is part of the huge Atlantic Ocean. Smaller streams, called tributaries, flow off Black Cap into the Saco River. These include Artist Brook, Mason Brook, White Lot Brook, and Weeks Brook.

Mountain Biking Adventures

If you love mountain biking, there's an exciting trail on Black Cap! It's called the Red Tail Trail. This trail was built by NEMBA, which stands for the New England Mountain Bike Association.

The Red Tail Trail starts near the path that goes to the top of Black Cap from Hurricane Mountain. It winds its way down both Black Cap and Hurricane Mountain. This trail is a great way to explore the area on two wheels! It eventually ends near Kearsarge Street and Hurricane Mountain Road.
