Robert T. Janecyk (born May 18, 1957) is an American retired ice hockey goaltender, also known as a goalie. He played 110 games in the top league, the National Hockey League (NHL). Bob played for two well-known teams: the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Black Hawks. His professional career in the NHL lasted from 1984 to 1988.

Bob Janecyk's Hockey Journey
Starting in College and Minor Leagues
Bob Janecyk went to Marist High School in Chicago, Illinois. He played college hockey for Chicago State University from 1976 to 1978. After college, he became a professional player. He first played for the Fort Wayne Komets. Later, he joined the New Brunswick Hawks in the American Hockey League (AHL). In 1982, his team, the New Brunswick Hawks, won the AHL's championship. This championship is called the Calder Cup. Bob was a very important player that year, winning 11 out of 13 playoff games!
Playing in the NHL
Bob Janecyk made his big debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1983–84 season. He played for the Chicago Black Hawks in eight games. On the day of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, Bob was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. This trade also involved draft picks between the two teams.
Moving to the Los Angeles Kings gave Bob more chances to play. He started as the goalie 89 times for the Kings over the next two seasons. He also played in three games during the 1985 Stanley Cup playoffs. Two of those playoff games went into overtime! However, Bob and the Kings were eventually eliminated by Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers went on to win the Stanley Cup that year.
Life After Hockey
Bob Janecyk has a son named Adam Janecyk. Adam also became a goalie! He played for the University of Michigan's hockey team from 2010 to 2014.
