Boban Babunski (born May 5, 1968) is a famous football player and coach from North Macedonia. He used to play as a central defender, which is a player who helps protect the goal. After his playing career, he became a football coach.

Boban Babunski's Playing Career

Boban Babunski was born in Skopje, which is a city in North Macedonia. He started his football journey playing for his hometown club, FK Vardar.

Playing for Clubs Across Europe and Asia

After playing for Vardar, Boban moved to Bulgaria. He played for CSKA Sofia for two seasons. This made him one of the first players from Macedonia to play in the top Bulgarian football league.

He then spent two good years playing in Spain for Lleida in their second division. After that, he moved even further away to Japan, where he played for Gamba Osaka.

Boban finished his professional playing career in 2001 when he was 33 years old. Before retiring, he also played for teams like AEK Athens in Greece, Logroñés in Spain, Sint-Truiden in Belgium, and Chemnitzer FC in Germany. His last professional club was FK Rabotnichki back in his home country.

Boban Babunski also played for his country. He played two games for the Yugoslavia national team in 1991.

Later, he played for the newly formed Macedonia national team. He played 23 matches for Macedonia over seven years and scored one goal.

In 2009, Boban became the head coach of FK Rabotnichki, a team from Skopje. He helped them win the Macedonian Cup in his first season.

He also coached the Macedonia Under-21 national team for several years. This role involves helping young players develop their skills. He has continued to coach various clubs in North Macedonia, including FK Vardar, Pobeda, Pelister, and most recently KF Besa Dobërdoll starting in 2024.

Boban Babunski's Family Life

Boban Babunski's family has a strong connection to football. His two sons, David and Dorian, are also professional football players.

David played youth football for the famous Spanish club FC Barcelona. Dorian also played for another big Spanish club, Real Madrid, when he was younger.
