History as a Fire Lookout
Long ago, the top of Boistfort Peak was home to a fire lookout. A fire lookout is a special tower or building where people watch for wildfires. From this high spot, they could see for many miles. If they spotted smoke, they would quickly report it. This helped firefighters get to the fire early and stop it from spreading. These lookouts were very important for protecting forests before modern technology like satellites and drones.
Modern Uses of the Peak

Communication Antennas

Boistfort Peak is also home to a scientific station called BOW. This station is part of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN). The PNSN is a group that monitors earthquakes and volcanic activity in the Pacific Northwest region. The BOW station on Boistfort Peak has special sensors that detect ground movements. This information helps scientists understand earthquakes better and can even provide early warnings for some events.
