Bokeelia is a small community in Lee County, Florida, United States. It is located on the northern part of Pine Island. A "census-designated place" (CDP) means it's an area the government tracks for population, but it's not an official city.

In 2020, about 1,855 people lived in Bokeelia. This was a small increase from 1,780 people in 2010. Bokeelia is part of the larger Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area is also known for being home to the Padilla family, one of Lee County's first pioneer families. They originally came from Cayo Costa.

Where is Bokeelia Located?

Bokeelia is found in the western part of Lee County, Florida. It is at the very northern tip of Pine Island. Water surrounds the community on three sides. To the west is Pine Island Sound, to the north is Charlotte Harbor, and to the east is Matlacha Pass.

South of Bokeelia are other communities like Pineland and Pine Island Center.

How to Get Around Bokeelia

The original part of Bokeelia is on Bokeelia Island. A short bridge connects it to Pine Island. Stringfellow Road (County Road 767) is the main road here. It goes through the community and ends at the town's short Main Street, which is along Charlotte Harbor.

If you travel south on Stringfellow Road, you will reach Pine Island Center about 7 miles away. From Pine Island Center, County Road 78 leads west to Cape Coral on the mainland.
