Borris L. Miles (born October 29, 1965) is a politician from Texas. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Since November 2016, he has been a Texas State Senator for District 13. Before that, he served in the Texas House of Representatives. There, he represented District 146, which includes parts of Harris County, Texas, like Sunnyside, Houston and Third Ward, Houston.
Borris Miles: Texas House of Representatives
Borris Miles first became a State Representative for District 146 in November 2006. He was re-elected in November 2010. He then served in the House of Representatives starting in January 2011. He was also re-elected in January 2013 and again in January 2015.
The Texas Classroom Teachers Association recognized him as a "Star of the 2011 Legislative Session." This shows his hard work during that time.
As part of the Agriculture & Livestock Committee, he helped create new laws. These laws aimed to help small urban farms grow. He also wrote and passed a bill called HB 2994. This bill was designed to give money to urban farming groups and small farms. This support helps them with research and business growth.
In the 83rd Texas Legislative Session, Speaker Joe Straus chose Miles for important committees. He was appointed to the Elections Committee and the Licensing & Administrative Procedures Committee.

Borris Miles lives in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Sunnyside, Houston. He went to Yates High School there. After high school, he studied at Sam Houston State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
Miles is married to Cydonii Fairfax Miles. He is also a member of the Theta Mu chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
In 2007, Miles started a program called Hip Hop 4 HIV. This program aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. It focused on African American and Latino communities. The program worked with a radio station and the City of Houston. They held free hip hop concerts. People could get tested for HIV at these events.
Borris Miles has sickle cell anemia.
