Bortigali (in Sardinian, Bortigale) is a small town, also known as a comune, located on the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. It is part of the Province of Nuoro. Bortigali is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of Cagliari, a large city in Sardinia. It is also about 45 kilometers (28 miles) west of Nuoro.
As of December 2004, about 1,502 people lived in Bortigali. The town covers an area of about 67.4 square kilometers (26.0 square miles). Bortigali also includes a smaller area called a frazione, which is Mulargia.
Bortigali shares its borders with several other towns. These include Birori, Bolotana, Dualchi, Macomer, and Silanus.
