Boston is a small city located in Thomas County, Georgia, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,207 people lived there.
History of Boston, Georgia
Boston became an official city in 1870, thanks to the Georgia General Assembly. Before it was called Boston, it had an earlier name: "Blue Springs." The city got its current name from Thomas M. Boston. He discovered a special spring nearby that people thought had healing powers.
Boston, Georgia is also special because it has one of the original Carnegie Libraries. These libraries were built with money from a famous businessman named Andrew Carnegie. It's cool that Boston's Carnegie Library is still used as a library today!
Geography and Location
Boston is located at 30°48′N 83°47′W / 30.800°N 83.783°W. This means it's in a specific spot on the map. The city covers a total area of about 2.2 square miles (5.8 square kilometers). Almost all of this area is land.
Boston is about 107 miles east of Dothan, Alabama. It is also about 21 miles west of Valdosta, another city in Georgia.
