Discover Bottighofen's Past

Bottighofen has a long and interesting history. Long ago, there was a small settlement by the lake. The modern village was first mentioned way back in the year 830. It was called Pottinchovum then.

For many centuries, a monastery called Münsterlingen was the main landowner in the village. This lasted from the Middle Ages until the 1800s. Bottighofen was also part of an area called the bailiwick of Eggen until 1798.
