Bound Brook is a small river, also called a tributary, in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It flows into the Raritan River.
The name "Bound Brook" comes from an old boundary marker in a Native American land agreement. On older maps, this stream was called Sacunk. This Native American name means "slow, sluggish stream."
This brook also gave its name to the town of Bound Brook, New Jersey.
Where Bound Brook Starts and Flows
Bound Brook begins in Edison, New Jersey. It starts near a big highway called Interstate 287.
Journey Through Towns
From Edison, the brook flows through an area known as the Dismal Swamp. It then continues its journey through South Plainfield.
A smaller stream called Cedar Brook joins Bound Brook southwest of Spring Lake. The brook then flows through Piscataway and into a place called New Market Pond.
Finally, Bound Brook travels through Middlesex. It joins the Green Brook at the northwest corner of Mountain View Park.
