Bovernier is a small town, also called a municipality, in the Valais area of Switzerland. It is part of the Martigny district. Bovernier is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.
History
Bovernier was first mentioned in old writings in the year 1228. Back then, it was called Burgus Warnierus.
Geography
Bovernier covers an area of about 12.9 square kilometers (about 5 square miles). A large part of this land, about 72%, is covered by forests. About 5% of the land is used for farming, and about 4% has buildings or roads. The rest is unproductive land like mountains.
The town is located in the Martigny district, right at the start of the Entremont region. Bovernier includes the main village and a smaller settlement called Les Valettes.
