Brad Sellers' Basketball Career
Brad Sellers is 7 feet tall. He played as a power forward and center. He was chosen by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1986 NBA draft. This means he was one of the first players picked that year.
Joining the Chicago Bulls
His selection by the Bulls was a bit surprising to some. The team's general manager, Jerry Krause, liked Sellers because he was very tall but could also shoot the ball well. This was unusual for a player his size. However, Michael Jordan, a famous player on the Bulls, and others wanted the team to pick Johnny Dawkins. Dawkins was a tough guard from Duke University and a friend of Jordan's.
Sellers became a part-time starter for the Chicago Bulls. This means he sometimes started the game but not always. He never scored more than 9.5 points or grabbed more than 4.7 rebounds per game in a season. When another player, Horace Grant, started playing really well around 1988, Sellers' time on the court began to decrease.
Moving to Other Teams
In 1989, the Bulls traded Sellers to the Seattle SuperSonics. In return, the Bulls got a pick in the 1989 NBA draft. They used that pick to choose B. J. Armstrong. Sellers didn't play much for the Sonics. He averaged 4.8 points in about 13 minutes per game.
Later, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in February 1990. He finished that season with them.
Playing Overseas
The next season, Sellers went to play for Aris B.C. in the Greek Basketball League. In 1991, during the Greek Championships Final, Sellers made a special play. He scored a basket and was fouled, which gave his team an extra point. This play won the game for Aris and made them champions!
After playing in Greece, Sellers came back to the NBA. He played for the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves for the next two seasons. From 1993 to 1999, he played basketball in other countries like Spain, Israel, and France. He stopped playing basketball in 2000.
Life After Basketball
After his basketball career, Brad Sellers took on new roles.
Radio Analyst
Since the 2010-2011 NBA season, Sellers has been a familiar voice in Cleveland, Ohio. He works as a post-game analyst for the Cleveland Cavaliers radio broadcasts. This means he talks about the game after it finishes, sharing his thoughts and insights.
