The Branch River is a river about 11.9-mile (19.2 km) long. It flows through eastern New Hampshire in the United States. This river is a tributary, which means it's a smaller river that flows into a larger one. The Branch River joins the Salmon Falls River.

The Salmon Falls River is part of a bigger area called the Piscataqua River watershed. A watershed is like a giant bowl where all the rain and snowmelt collect and drain into a common river or lake. Eventually, the water from the Branch River makes its way to the Atlantic Ocean.

Where the Branch River Starts

The Branch River begins at the end of Lovell Lake. This lake is located in a village called Sanbornville. Sanbornville is part of the town of Wakefield, New Hampshire.

Its Journey to the Ocean

From Lovell Lake, the river flows south. It runs next to New Hampshire Route 16, a main road in the area. The river then passes through the village of Union. After that, it turns southeast.

The Branch River finally reaches the Salmon Falls River in a place called Northeast Pond. This pond is located within the town of Milton.

Other Streams Joining In

A significant tributary that flows into the Branch River is Jones Brook. This means Jones Brook is another smaller stream that adds its water to the Branch River.
