The Bras à Pierre is a small river in Quebec, Canada. It flows into the Saint-Jean River. This river is located in the area of L'Anse-Saint-Jean. This region is part of the Le Fjord-du-Saguenay Regional County Municipality.
The name "Bras à Pierre" means "Pierre's arm" in English. The valley around the river is used for different activities. These include cutting down trees (forestry), farming, and fun outdoor activities. There are also some small homes in the valley.
The river usually freezes over in early December. It stays frozen until the end of March. It's generally safe to walk or play on the ice from mid-December to mid-March.

The River's Journey
The Bras à Pierre starts in a marshy area. This marsh is about 2.7 km (1.7 mi) long. It gets its water from small streams coming down from the mountains.
The start of the river is located:
- 1.0 km (0.62 mi) north of the Rivière à la Catin.
- 6.6 km (4.1 mi) south of where the Bras à Pierre joins the Saint-Jean River.
The Bras à Pierre flows for about 9.0 km (5.6 mi). It drops about 194 m (636 ft) in height from its source to its mouth.
Here's how the river flows:
- For the first 3.0 km (1.9 mi), it flows north. It goes through a marshy valley with tall mountains. It picks up water from small lakes along the way.
- Then, it flows west for 0.4 km (0.25 mi).
- Finally, it flows north for 5.6 km (3.5 mi). It winds through the mountains, making a few turns before reaching its end.
Where the River Ends
The Bras à Pierre flows into the south side of the Saint-Jean River.
This meeting point is located:
- 10.8 km (6.7 mi) south-east of the village of Rivière-Éternité.
- 18.2 km (11.3 mi) south-west of where the Saint-Jean River meets Anse Saint-Jean.
From this point, the water from Bras à Pierre continues its journey:
- It flows along the Saint-Jean River for 26.0 km (16.2 mi) towards the northeast.
- Then, it crosses Anse Saint-Jean for 2.9 km (1.8 mi) to the north.
- Finally, it joins the Saguenay River. It flows along the Saguenay River for 42.8 km (26.6 mi) eastward to Tadoussac. There, it mixes with the waters of the Estuary of Saint Lawrence.
Name of the River
The name "Bras à Pierre" simply uses the common male name "Pierre." The official name "Bras à Pierre" was formally recognized on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is the group in charge of naming places in Quebec.
