Brenton Alexander Cox Jr. (born January 30, 2000) is a professional football player. He plays as a defensive end for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL). Brenton played college football for both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators. He joined the Green Bay Packers in 2023.
Early Life and High School Football
Brenton Cox Jr. grew up in Stockbridge, Georgia. He went to Miller Grove High School for two years. Later, he transferred to Stockbridge High School.
During his senior year, Brenton was a star player. He made 42 tackles and had five sacks. This earned him a spot on the All-State team. He also played in the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game. This game features the best high school football players.
College Football Career
Brenton started his college football journey at the University of Georgia. As a freshman, he played in 13 games. He made 20 tackles and had one sack. His first start was in the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
After his freshman year, Brenton decided to transfer. He moved to the University of Florida. Due to NCAA rules, he had to sit out his sophomore season. He could not play in games that year.
In his redshirt sophomore year, Brenton became a starter for the Florida Gators. He played for the team until October 2022.
Professional Football Career
After his college career, Brenton Cox Jr. entered the 2023 NFL Draft. He was not chosen by a team during the draft. However, the Green Bay Packers signed him on May 1, 2023. This means he joined the team as an undrafted free agent.
