Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron (born 13 April 1953) is a French former teacher. She is best known as the wife of Emmanuel Macron. He is the current president of France.

Early Life of Brigitte Macron
Brigitte Macron was born Brigitte Marie-Claude Trogneux. Her hometown is Amiens, France. She was the youngest of six children. Her parents, Simone and Jean Trogneux, owned a famous chocolate company. The company, called Jean Trogneux, was founded in 1872. Today, her nephew, Jean-Alexandre Trogneux, runs the family business.
Brigitte Macron's Teaching Career
Brigitte Macron, then known as Brigitte Auzière, started her teaching career in the 1980s. She taught literature at Collège Lucie-Berger in Strasbourg. In the 1990s, she moved to Amiens. There, she taught French and Latin at Lycée la Providence, a high school.
From 2007 to 2015, she taught at Lycée Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague in Paris. This is one of France's most respected private schools. She taught French to Frédéric and Jean Arnault, who are sons of a famous French business leader.
How Brigitte Met Emmanuel Macron
Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron first met at Lycée la Providence. She was in charge of the after-school drama club. Emmanuel was 15 years old and attended the club. Her daughter, Laurence, was also in his class.
Brigitte later divorced her first husband in 2006. She married Emmanuel Macron on 20 October 2007.
Brigitte Macron's Role in Politics

In 1989, Brigitte Macron tried to get a seat on the city council of Truchtersheim. She was not successful. This was the only time she ran for an elected position.
In 2017, Brigitte Macron played a big part in her husband's presidential campaign. An adviser said her presence was very important to him. Emmanuel Macron said that if he won the presidency, his wife would have a clear role. He stated she would not be "hidden."
The "First Lady" Discussion
Emmanuel Macron suggested creating an official "first lady" title for his wife. This title would come with staff and a budget. However, many people signed a petition against this idea. They were concerned about giving an official title and budget to the president's spouse.
Because of this, the French government announced that Brigitte Macron would not have an official "first lady" title. She would also not get an official budget. She later explained that a new transparency plan would describe her role. It would also explain the resources and staff she would have. This plan was published soon after.
Personal Life of Brigitte Macron
Brigitte married banker André-Louis Auzière on 22 June 1974. They had three children together: Sébastien (born 1975), Laurence (born 1977), and Tiphaine (born 1984). The family lived in Truchtersheim until 1991. Then they moved to Amiens.
In 1993, when she was 39, she met 15-year-old Emmanuel Macron. This happened at La Providence High School. She was his teacher, and he was a classmate of her daughter. Brigitte divorced André-Louis Auzière in January 2006. She then married Emmanuel Macron on 20 October 2007.
