Early Swimming Days

Bronte Barratt was born in Brisbane, Australia. She started her swimming journey at the Albany Creek Swim Club. Her coach was John Rodgers.

First Big Wins

In 2006, Bronte competed in the World Short Course Championships. This event was held in Shanghai. She won a gold medal there. This was for the women's 4×200-metre freestyle relay race. She also earned a silver medal on her own. This was in the 400-metre freestyle event.

In 2007, Bronte broke an old Australian swimming record. She beat Tracey Wickham's 29-year-old record. This was for the 400m freestyle event.

Olympic Success

Bronte took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She swam in the 200-metre and 400-metre freestyle races. She was also part of the 4×200-metre freestyle relay team. This team won a gold medal! They even broke the world record by six seconds. Bronte swam the second part of the relay. Her teammates were Stephanie Rice, Kylie Palmer, and Linda Mackenzie.
