Bronte Amelia Arnold Barratt is an Australian swimmer who won an Olympic gold medal. She was born on February 8, 1989. Bronte is now retired from competitive swimming.

Bronte Barratt's Swimming Journey

Bronte Barratt was born in Brisbane, Australia. She started her swimming career at the Albany Creek Swim Club. Her coach was John Rodgers.

Early Successes

In 2006, Bronte competed in the World Short Course Championships in Shanghai. She won a gold medal as part of the 4×200-metre freestyle relay team. She also earned a silver medal in the 400-metre freestyle race.

In 2007, Bronte broke a very old Australian swimming record. She beat Tracey Wickham's 29-year-old record in the 400-metre freestyle. This was a big achievement!

Olympic and World Championships Highlights

Bronte competed in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She swam in the 200-metre and 400-metre freestyle events. She was also a key member of the women's 4×200-metre freestyle relay team. This team won a gold medal and set a new world record! Bronte swam the second part of the relay. Her teammates were Stephanie Rice, Kylie Palmer, and Linda Mackenzie.

After her success in Beijing, Bronte received the Medal of the Order of Australia. This award recognized her great service to sport.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Bronte continued to shine. She won a bronze medal in the 200-metre freestyle. She also earned a silver medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay.

In 2014, Bronte competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Her 4×200-metre freestyle relay team won a gold medal. They even set a new Games record! Bronte also won two individual bronze medals. These were in the 200-metre and 400-metre freestyle races.

Bronte's final Olympic appearance was at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She represented Australia in the 200-metre freestyle. She also helped her team win a silver medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay.
