How Bruno Got Its Name
The city of Bruno was named after Bruno Township. This township was named after an early hotel owner in the area.
Some people also think the city might have been named after Brno, a city in the Czech Republic. This is because many of the first settlers in Bruno came from Czechoslovakia.
Early Days of Bruno
Bruno officially became a city on August 29, 1903. Before that, in 1887, a company called the Eastern Railway Company of Minnesota had a train station there. It was known as Mansfield Station.
This station was part of a small village planned by Fitzhugh Burns. Mail service, through a post office, started in Bruno in 1896.
