Brunsbüttel is a town in northern Germany. It's located in the Schleswig-Holstein region, right where the Elbe river meets the North Sea. This town is also famous for being the western entrance to the Kiel Canal, a very important waterway.

History of Brunsbüttel
The first time Brunsbüttel was mentioned in a written document was on July 14, 1286. This shows the town has a long history.
A big change happened in 1911. This was when the Kiel Canal (also called the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal in German) was built. Because of this large construction project, the town of Brunsbüttel was actually split into two parts.
During the early days of World War II, on September 4, 1939, a British air squadron carried out a bombing mission near the town. They were targeting warships in the area.
Economy and Industry
Brunsbüttel became a major industrial area in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, the ChemCoast Park Brunsbüttel is a very important business area. It is also the largest industrial zone in Schleswig-Holstein, covering about 2,000 hectares (that's about 4,900 acres!).
