Daniel Lamont "Bubba" Franks was born on January 6, 1978. He is a former professional football player. Bubba played as a tight end for nine seasons. He was part of the National Football League (NFL).
Bubba played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. He was named an All-American in 1999. The Green Bay Packers chose him in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft. He was the 14th player picked overall. During his career, he made 262 catches for 2,347 yards. He also scored 32 touchdowns.

Bubba Franks grew up in Big Spring, Texas. He went to Big Spring High School. There, he was a star tight end. He earned "all-state" honors for his great play.
College Football Star
Bubba played college football at the University of Miami. He was known for making amazing one-handed catches. He spent his first year, 1996, as a "redshirt." This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games.
From 1997 to 1999, Bubba was a very strong player. He set a new record for the University of Miami. He scored 12 touchdowns as a tight end. He was also named to the All-Big East team twice. In 1999, he was chosen as an All-American. This means he was one of the best college players in the country.

Bubba Franks had a good start in his rookie year, 2000. A rookie is a player in their first season. In his second NFL year, 2001, he played even better. He caught nine touchdown passes that season. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl three times. The Pro Bowl is a special game for the NFL's best players. He went in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
Bubba had some tough luck with injuries. He missed many games in the 2005 season. He had problems with his knee and neck. In 2007, he struggled with more injuries. Another player, Donald Lee, took his starting spot. On February 20, 2008, the Packers released Bubba. This meant he was no longer on their team.
Playing for the New York Jets
On March 16, 2008, Bubba Franks signed a one-year deal. He joined the New York Jets. He played for them for a short time. On July 13, 2009, the Jets released him. This was the end of his professional football career.
