Where is Bucksport Located?
Bucksport is in the southwestern part of the town of Bucksport. It is right on the Penobscot River. The river forms the western border of the community.
The Eastern Channel of the Penobscot River separates Bucksport from Verona Island. The community also borders the town of Orland to the southeast.
How to Get Around Bucksport
Several important roads pass through Bucksport. U.S. Route 1 goes through the southeast part of the community. It connects Bucksport to Ellsworth (about 19 miles east) and Belfast (about 18 miles southwest).
Maine State Route 15 runs along Main Street through the center of Bucksport. This route goes north along the Penobscot River to Bangor, which is about 19 miles away.
