A Look at Caimital Alto's History
Caimital Alto, like the rest of Puerto Rico, became part of the United States after the Spanish–American War in 1898. Before that, it was controlled by Spain. This change happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
A year later, in 1899, the U.S. government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that Caimital Alto and a nearby neighborhood called Corrales had a total of 1,158 people. Over the years, the population of Caimital Alto has grown.
