Calbha Mor is a special kind of island called a tidal islet. This means it's an island that you can sometimes walk to from the mainland when the tide is low. It's located in Eddrachillis Bay in Sutherland, a beautiful part of Scotland.

About Calbha Mor

Calbha Mor is a quiet, uninhabited island. It's known for its natural beauty and its unique connection to the sea. The island is part of the many small islands found along the coast of Sutherland.

Where is Calbha Mor?

This island is found north of the famous Kylesku Bridge. It's also west of the Duartmore forest. Getting to Calbha Mor can be a bit tricky because it's not easily reached from the main road, the A894. This helps keep the island wild and untouched.

Size and Shape

Calbha Mor is about 70 hectares (or 173 acres) in size. Imagine an island made up of two rounded hills. The tallest of these hills reaches about 67 meters (or 220 feet) high.

Calbha Mor and Calbha Beag

Calbha Mor has a smaller neighbor called Calbha Beag. These two islands are separated by a channel of water that is about 11 meters (or 36 feet) deep. Calbha Beag is also a good-sized island, covering about 45 hectares (or 111 acres).

Bagh Calbha Bay

To the east of Calbha Mor, there's a sheltered bay called Bagh Calbha. This bay is a calm area of water. Sometimes, fish farms are located in these protected bays.
