Calvin Chen (Chinese: 辰亦儒; pinyin: Chén Yìrú; Wade–Giles: Chen I-Ju; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Sîn E̍k-jû; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: Shìn Yi̍t-yî; Teochew pronunciation in Tâi-lô: Sîng Iā-dzû) is a famous Taiwanese actor, singer, model, and television host. He is also a businessman. He was a member of the popular Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit. The other members were Jiro Wang, Wu Chun, and Aaron Yan.

Career

His Music Journey

Calvin Chen joined the boy band Fahrenheit in 2005. He was the third member to join this group. On Fahrenheit's second album, he sang a rap part in a song called "心裡有數". He also recorded his first solo song for a TV show soundtrack. This song was called "你是我所有的回憶". He hopes to release his own solo album in the future.

Hosting TV Shows

Calvin Chen also became a TV host. He signed a contract with MTV to host a show called "日韩音乐风" (which means Japan Korea Music Craze). He interviewed many Japanese and Korean artists on this show. He also hosted as a substitute on other popular Taiwanese shows. These included "100% Entertainment" and "Total Entertainment". In 2011, he became one of the hosts for a live show called "Apple Entertainment News".

His Book

On May 21, 2011, Calvin Chen released his own photo book. It was called The Incredible Journey of Calvin Chen. The book shares stories about his life as a student in Canada. It also talks about how he became famous as the "Sunshine Boy".

Personal Life

After finishing high school in Taiwan, Calvin Chen went to college in Canada. He studied at Simon Fraser University. He later earned his master's degree in Economics from the University of Victoria. In 2004, he joined a competition in Vancouver called "Sunshine Boyz". He won first place, which gave him a free ticket to Taiwan. He also got a contract with a music company and a role in a drama. He then joined Fahrenheit in 2005. He also studied at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Calvin Chen started his own fashion brand called WOW in October 2008.

On January 23, 2020, he announced that he married Taiwanese actress Joanne Tseng. They had been together for 10 years before getting married. Calvin Chen can speak several languages. He speaks Mandarin, English, and Taiwanese. He also speaks Thai. Because of his work as a host, he understands some conversational Cantonese, Korean, and Japanese.
