On February 5, 1852, he married Lucy A. Marsh. They had six children together. One of their children later became a judge in Jackson County, Wisconsin. Calvin R. Johnson passed away on January 30, 1897, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
Calvin Johnson's Military Service
Calvin Johnson was a brave soldier who fought in two important wars for the United States. First, he served in the United States Army during the Mexican–American War. This war happened from 1846 to 1848. He served under a famous general named Winfield Scott.
Later, during the American Civil War (1861–1865), Calvin Johnson became a captain. He led soldiers in the 14th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. This group of soldiers was part of the Union Army, fighting to keep the country together.
