However, he made an amazing comeback for the playoffs and helped his team win Super Bowl LVI. In 2023, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, but another Achilles injury ended his season early.

Cam Akers played for the Florida State Seminoles from 2017 to 2019.

2017 Season: Breaking Records

In his first college game, Akers played against Alabama. He rushed for 30 yards. His first game with over 100 rushing yards was against Miami (FL), where he ran for 129 yards. A week later, he scored his first college touchdown with a 46-yard run against Duke.

Later that season, Akers had a fantastic game against Syracuse, rushing for 199 yards and two touchdowns. By the end of the season, he had rushed for 1,025 yards and seven touchdowns. This broke the Florida State freshman rushing record, which was previously held by Dalvin Cook. Akers was recognized for his great performance and was named Third-Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

2018 Season: A Tough Year

Akers was still the main running back for the 2018 season. He was even named Preseason All-ACC. However, it was a tougher year for him. He didn't have a 100-yard rushing game until near the end of the season against Boston College. He finished the season with 706 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

2019 Season: Strong Finish

In his final college season, Akers had several standout games. Against Louisiana–Monroe, he rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns, also catching five passes for 55 yards and another touchdown. His 36 carries in that game set a new team record.

He continued to shine against Louisville, rushing for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Against Syracuse, Akers tied a program record by scoring four touchdowns in one game, rushing for 144 yards. In his last game for Florida State against Florida, he rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown.

On December 14, 2019, Akers decided to skip his team's bowl game to prepare for the 2020 NFL draft. He finished his college career with 27 rushing touchdowns, which ranks sixth in Florida State history. His 2,875 career rushing yards also rank sixth all-time for the Seminoles. The Los Angeles Rams picked Akers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, as the 52nd overall pick. In Week 11, he scored his first NFL touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A few weeks later, in Week 14 against the New England Patriots, Akers had an amazing game. He rushed for 171 yards, which was one of the best rushing performances by any NFL player that season. 2021 Season: Overcoming Injury

The 2021 season started with a big challenge for Akers. In July 2021, he tore his Achilles tendon during a workout. This is a very serious injury that usually keeps players out for a whole year. However, Akers had a special surgery that helped him recover much faster.

He made an incredible return to the field in Week 18, just five months after his injury. Akers then played in the playoffs, helping the Rams reach Super Bowl LVI. In the Super Bowl, he contributed to the Rams' 23–20 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, becoming a Super Bowl champion.
