Cambridge Gardens is a suburb located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is about 54 kilometers west of the main city center of Sydney. This suburb is part of the City of Penrith area. It is also part of the larger Greater Western Sydney region.

History of Cambridge Gardens
Cambridge Gardens is a fairly new suburb. It officially became a suburb in 1981. Before that, it was part of a nearby suburb called Cambridge Park.
First People of the Land
Long ago, before European settlers arrived, the land where Cambridge Gardens is now was home to the Mulgoa people. They spoke the Darug language. These people lived by hunting and gathering food. Their way of life followed traditional laws. These laws came from the Dreamtime, which is a very important part of their culture.
Their homes were bark huts called 'gunyahs'. They hunted animals like kangaroos and emus for food. They also gathered plants such as yams, berries, and other native plants. After the First Fleet arrived in Australia in 1788, a serious sickness called smallpox spread. This disease greatly reduced the number of local Indigenous people.
European Settlement and Growth
The first land grant in this area was given in 1831. It went to Phillip Parker King. He was the son of Governor Phillip Gidley King. This land became part of the Werrington estate. It belonged to King's sister, Mary Lethbridge. The land was used as a farm until the 1880s. Then, the estate was divided into smaller farms.
This area was later renamed Cambridge Park. In 1978, a second primary school was built in Cambridge Park. It was named Cambridge Gardens Public School. Three years later, the name "Cambridge Gardens" was chosen for the surrounding area. That is how the suburb of Cambridge Gardens was created.
