Cameron Williams was born on February 18, 1963, in Emerald, Queensland, Australia. He is a well-known Australian television journalist and presenter. Many people know him from his work with the Nine Network. He has been a sports presenter for Nine News Sydney and has also co-hosted Weekend Today. Cameron was also a sports presenter on the Today show. He often reported from the Australian Open tennis tournament for the network.

Cameron Williams's Career Journey

Cameron Williams began his career in journalism in 1984. He started as a cadet, which is like an apprentice, at The Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane. After that, he moved to The Australian newspaper offices in Melbourne. There, he wrote many sports stories and columns.

Moving to Television

In 1988, Cameron joined the Seven Network. He became a sports presenter for Seven News. Sometimes, he also hosted Sportsworld. A big moment in his career was presenting for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He even called the exciting moment when Matt Ryan won two gold medals in equestrian for Australia.

Working at Fox Sports

In 1996, Cameron Williams became a main presenter for Fox Sports. He hosted many popular sports shows. These included NRL On Fox, the Dally M Awards, Super 12 Rugby, and coverage of Wimbledon tennis. He also covered the Winter Olympics and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Cameron was also a presenter for Fox Sports News. In 2001, Fox Sports decided not to renew his contract.

After leaving Fox Sports, Cameron worked as a breakfast announcer. He was on the radio station 2HD in Newcastle. He also owned a business in Newcastle called Models and Actors. This agency helped models and actors find work.

Joining the Nine Network

Cameron Williams became the official sports editor and presenter for the Nine Network's breakfast show, Today. He held this role from January 2006 until December 2010. He also presented Nine's coverage of horse racing, swimming, and other sports events.

From 2013 to 2015, Cameron presented Nine's coverage of Friday Night Football. He also hosted the network's coverage of the 2015 Rugby World Cup. In February 2016, Cameron Williams announced he was leaving the Nine Network.

However, in December 2016, he rejoined the Nine Network. He became the sports editor for Nine News Sydney. This happened after the well-known sports presenter Ken Sutcliffe retired. In March 2022, Cameron announced he was leaving the Nine Network again. He said he wanted to focus on his health and explore new opportunities.
