Cameron Williams's Career Journey
Cameron Williams started his journalism career in 1984. He began as a trainee at The Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane. Later, he moved to The Australian newspaper in Melbourne. There, he wrote many articles about sports.
Early Television Work
In 1988, Cameron joined the Seven Network. He worked as a sports presenter on Seven News. Sometimes, he also hosted Sportsworld. A big moment for him was presenting at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He even called the exciting moment when Matt Ryan won two gold medals in equestrian for Australia.
In 1996, Cameron became a key face for Fox Sports. He hosted many sports shows, including NRL On Fox and the Dally M Awards. He also covered major events like Wimbledon and the Winter Olympics. He worked at Fox Sports until 2001.
After his time at Fox Sports, Cameron worked as a breakfast radio announcer. This was at the 2HD station in Newcastle.
Working at the Nine Network
Cameron Williams joined the Nine Network in January 2006. He became the main sports presenter for their morning show, Today. He stayed in this role until December 2010. During this time, he also presented Nine's coverage of horse racing and swimming.
In 2010, Cameron also started presenting sports on Nine News Sydney. He took over the Friday and Saturday sport presenter role.
In January 2011, Cameron focused more on Weekend Today. He continued to present sports for the Nine Network. From 2013 to 2015, he presented Friday Night Football. He also hosted the network's coverage of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
In February 2016, Cameron Williams announced he was leaving the Nine Network. However, he rejoined the network in December 2016. He became the sports editor for Nine News Sydney. He took over from the well-known sports presenter Ken Sutcliffe.
In March 2022, Cameron Williams announced he was leaving the Nine Network again. He said he wanted to focus on his health and explore new opportunities.
