The Story of Campbell County

Campbell County was officially formed in 1911. It was created from parts of two other counties: Crook County and Weston County. The county was named after an important person. It might have been named for John Allen Campbell, who was a governor of the Wyoming Territory. Or, it could have been named for Robert Campbell. He was a famous trapper and fur trader long ago.
