Capellades is a cool town in Catalonia, Spain. It's located in the southern part of a region called Anoia. The town sits about 60 meters above the Anoia river, where the river cuts through the Catalan Coastal Range.
A main road (C-15) and a train line (R6) pass through the valley below Capellades. These connect the town to places like Vilafranca del Penedès, Martorell, Barcelona, and Igualada. You can get to Capellades from Barcelona in about an hour by car, bus, or train.
Capellades is super famous for making paper, a tradition that started way back in the 1600s! One paper company there, started in 1714, is the oldest company in all of Spain. Today, they make special "security paper" – the kind used for important documents. You can also visit the Molí-Museu Paperer in town. It's in an old paper factory and shows how paper was made.
Even though the town isn't huge, people here do some farming. They grow things like cereals, grapes, and almonds. Making textiles (like clothes) and ceramics (like pottery), plus summer tourism, also help the town's economy. Did you know the sports shoe company Munich has its main office in Capellades?
This area has been lived in for a very long time, since the middle Paleolithic era, which was about 50,000 years ago! There's an amazing archeological site called the Abric Romaní just below the modern town that you can visit.
