Pleasant Pond is the biggest lake in Caratunk. Water flows out of the pond through Pleasant Pond Stream. This stream travels about 3 miles (4.8 km) west. It then joins the Kennebec River in Caratunk village.
The famous Appalachian Trail also goes through Caratunk. It follows Pleasant Pond Stream and the northwestern shore of Pleasant Pond. After that, the trail climbs up Pleasant Pond Mountain. Pleasant Pond is a great place for fishing. It is home to fish like lake trout and brook trout.
