Carl Thomas (born October 3, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Today, he is the head coach for the men's basketball team at Cleary University.

Early Life and College Basketball
Carl Thomas was born in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he moved to Lansing, Michigan. There, he played basketball at Everett High School. After high school, he went to Eastern Michigan University. He continued to play basketball for the Eastern Michigan Eagles. In 1991, he was named Second-team All-MAC, which is a great honor for a college player.
Professional Playing Career
Carl Thomas started his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings in the 1991–92 season. He played one game for them. After that, he played for several other teams. These included the Fort Wayne Fury and the Grand Rapids Hoops.
He returned to the NBA in the 1996–97 season. He joined the Cleveland Cavaliers that year. His last NBA season was 1997–98. During this season, he played for three different teams. These were the Golden State Warriors, the Orlando Magic, and the Cavaliers again.
After his time in the NBA, Carl Thomas played basketball internationally. He played for teams in different countries. These included Spain, France, Sweden, the Dominican Republic, and Greece. His last professional team was Fileni Jesi in Italy.
Carl Thomas has a twin brother named Charles Thomas. Charles also played professional basketball, including for the Detroit Pistons.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Carl Thomas became a basketball coach. He started as an assistant coach. He worked at Maryland Eastern Shore. He also coached at his old college, Eastern Michigan University.
Later, he became the head coach for the basketball program at Jackson College in 2013. He also spent time as an assistant coach at Duquesne University.
On August 23, 2022, Carl Thomas was given an exciting new role. He was named the very first head coach for the men's basketball program at Cleary University.
International Play
Carl Thomas also represented the United States in international competitions. He won two silver medals at the Pan American Games.

- He won another silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
