Carl Thomas (born October 3, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Today, he is the head coach for the basketball team at Cleary University.
Carl Thomas was born in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he moved to Lansing, Michigan. There, he played basketball at Everett High School. After high school, he went to Eastern Michigan University. He continued to play basketball there.

Carl Thomas's NBA Career
Carl Thomas started his NBA journey with the Sacramento Kings. This was during the 1991–92 season. He played one game, scoring 12 points in 31 minutes.
He returned to the NBA in the 1996–97 season. This time, he joined the Cleveland Cavaliers. His last NBA season was 1997–98. During this year, he played for three teams. He was with the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, and the Cavaliers again.
Playing in Other Leagues
Besides the NBA, Carl Thomas also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for teams like the Fort Wayne Fury and Grand Rapids Hoops. He also played for the Grand Rapids Mackers. He was a CBA player from 1991 to 2000. In 1996, he was chosen for the All-CBA Second Team. This means he was one of the best players in the league that year.
Carl Thomas also played basketball internationally. His last professional team was Fileni Jesi in Italy. Interestingly, Carl has a twin brother named Charles Thomas. Charles also played professional basketball, including for the Detroit Pistons.
Carl Thomas as a Coach
After his playing career, Carl Thomas became a basketball coach. He worked as an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University.
In 2013, he became the head coach for the basketball program at Jackson College. He led that team for several years.
On August 23, 2022, Carl Thomas took on a new role. He was named the very first head coach for the men's basketball program at Cleary University. He continues to coach there today.
