The name comes from its founders: Carlos Anderson and his business partner, Charlie Skipsey. Carlos Anderson started the company, called Grupo Anderson's, in 1963. Sadly, Carlos Anderson passed away in a plane crash in 1990.
Grupo Anderson's is a very big restaurant company in Mexico. They have more than 50 restaurants! Besides Carlos'n Charlie's, they also own other well-known places like Señor Frog's, Carlos O'Brians, and El Squid Roe.
In 2005, a typical Carlos'n Charlie's restaurant made about $3.6 million in sales. The average bill for a customer was about $22.50. The company's main office is in Cancun, Mexico.

One former location in Oranjestad, Aruba, was mentioned in the news in 2005. It was a place where a young person named Natalee Holloway was last seen before she disappeared. The restaurant in Aruba closed three years later. A new restaurant from the same company, Señor Frog's, opened nearby in Palm Beach.
