Carlos Noriel Lee (born June 20, 1976) is a former professional baseball player from Panama. He was nicknamed "El Caballo", which means "The Horse". Carlos played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1999 to 2012. He was mostly a left fielder and sometimes a first baseman.
Carlos played for several teams, including the Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and Miami Marlins. He was known for hitting many home runs and driving in runs. He hit 17 grand slams in his career, which is one of the most in MLB history.

Carlos Lee's Baseball Career
Playing for the Chicago White Sox
Carlos Lee started his MLB career with the Chicago White Sox on May 7, 1999. He hit a home run in his very first game! In his first year, he had a great average of .293 and brought in 84 runs. He finished 7th in the voting for the Rookie of the Year award.
In the next few years, Carlos kept hitting well. In 2000, he hit 24 home runs and had 92 RBIs. He continued to hit for power, getting 24 home runs in 2001 and 26 in 2002.
His best season with the White Sox was in 2003. He played in 158 games, hit 31 home runs, and brought in 113 runs. He also scored 100 runs himself. In 2004, he continued his strong performance, hitting 31 home runs and batting .305. After this season, he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Time with the Milwaukee Brewers
In 2005, Carlos Lee joined the Milwaukee Brewers. He quickly became a star there. He hit 32 home runs and had 114 RBIs. He was chosen to be an All-Star in both 2005 and 2006. In 2005, he also won his first Silver Slugger Award, which is given to the best offensive players at each position.
In July 2006, Carlos was traded to the Texas Rangers. The Brewers tried to keep him, but they couldn't agree on a new contract.
Short Stop with the Texas Rangers
Carlos played 59 games for the Texas Rangers. He continued to hit well, batting .322 and hitting 9 home runs. Between his time with the Brewers and the Rangers in 2006, he hit a career-high 37 home runs and had 116 RBIs.
Years with the Houston Astros
On November 24, 2006, Carlos Lee signed a big contract with the Houston Astros. He had a very good first year in Houston in 2007. He batted .303, hit 32 home runs, and brought in 119 runs. This tied him for the most RBIs in the National League that year.
In 2008, even though he played in fewer games due to an injury, he still hit 28 home runs and had 100 RBIs. In 2009, Carlos continued to be a strong hitter, batting exactly .300 and bringing in 102 runs.
In 2010, Carlos sometimes played first baseman for the Astros. He hit 24 home runs and had 89 RBIs that year. Carlos was known for not striking out very often. During his six years with the Astros, he never struck out more than 65 times in a season. He also set a club record for the Astros with seven grand slams.
Playing for the Miami Marlins
On July 4, 2012, Carlos Lee was traded to the Miami Marlins. He played his first game with the Marlins the next day. On July 17, he hit his first home run as a Marlin, which was a grand slam. He played 81 games for the Marlins before his career ended.
Carlos Lee's International Play
Carlos Lee also played baseball for his home country, Panama. He represented the Panama national baseball team in international competitions. He played in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
