Carlton Bank is a cool hill located in the Cleveland Hills, which are part of the North York Moors in north-east England. It stands tall over the villages of Carlton-in-Cleveland and Faceby. From the very top, you can see amazing views of the area, including the big towns of Middlesbrough and Redcar to the north. You can also spot the famous Roseberry Topping hill clearly from here.

Carlton Bank is a hill that reaches about 408 meters (1,339 feet) high. It's part of a group of hills called the Cleveland Hills. These hills form the northern edge of the beautiful North York Moors National Park. The area around Carlton Bank is mostly open moorland, which means it's covered in heather and grasses.

The Cleveland Way

The hill is also part of the famous Coast to Coast Walk. This long-distance trail was created by a famous walker named Alfred Wainwright. It stretches from the Irish Sea on the west coast of England all the way to the North Sea on the east coast. Walking over Carlton Bank is just one small part of this epic journey.
Past Use: Gliding Club
A long time ago, there was a place for a gliding club near Carlton Bank. This aerodrome (a small airfield) was about 500 meters (1,640 feet) south of the hill's summit. Gliding is a sport where people fly in unpowered aircraft, using air currents to stay in the sky. It must have been an amazing place to launch gliders, with all that open space and great views!
