Carly Hughes (born October 1, 1982) is an American actress and singer. She is well-known for her role as Angela in the ABC comedy TV series, American Housewife, which aired from 2016 to 2020.

Carly Hughes' Early Life
Carly Hughes was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up in Columbia, Maryland. Her very first acting role was playing Robin Hood in a school play. This was in fifth grade at Clemens Crossing Elementary School.
She later attended Wilde Lake High School. After high school, she went to Pennsylvania State University. In 2004, she graduated with a degree in musical theater.
Carly Hughes' Acting Career
Carly Hughes started her career performing in many famous Broadway shows. These include Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Ragtime, Ghost The Musical, and Pippin. She also appeared in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Cabin in the Sky, and Chicago.
In 2016, Hughes began her television career. She joined the ABC comedy series American Housewife. In this show, she played Angela, one of the main character's best friends, alongside Ali Wong.
After four seasons, Hughes decided to leave the series in November 2020. She stated that she needed to leave to protect herself from a difficult work situation. The production company, ABC Signature, looked into the matter. They later announced that positive changes were made to the workplace. The show's creator, Sarah Dunn, and line producer Mark J. Greenberg left the series.
After leaving American Housewife, Carly Hughes got her first main role. She starred in a Lifetime Christmas TV movie called The Christmas Edition.
