Carole Bayer Sager (born March 8, 1944) is an American lyricist, singer, songwriter, and painter. She is famous for writing the words to many popular songs.

Early Life and First Hit Song
Carole Bayer Sager was born in New York City. She attended the High School of Music and Art. While she was still a student, she wrote her first big hit song.
Together with her friend Toni Wine, she wrote the lyrics for "A Groovy Kind of Love". The song was a huge success. It was first recorded by the British band The Mindbenders and became a top hit around the world. Later, famous artists like Phil Collins also recorded the song, making it a number-one hit again in 1988.
After high school, she went to New York University and studied English and arts.

Singing and Solo Albums
Besides writing for others, Carole also recorded her own albums. Her first album, Carole Bayer Sager, came out in 1977. It had the hit single "You're Moving Out Today". This song became a number-one hit in Australia.
She released two more albums, ...Too in 1978 and Sometimes Late at Night in 1981. Her song "Stronger Than Before" from the 1981 album was her only solo hit to make it onto the Billboard Top 40 chart in the United States.
Writing Hit Songs for Others
Carole Bayer Sager is best known for writing songs for other famous musicians. Throughout the 1970s, she worked with artists like Melissa Manchester and Australian songwriter Peter Allen. She co-wrote hits like "Midnight Blue" and "Don't Cry Out Loud".
She also wrote the lyrics for "Nobody Does It Better", the theme song for the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me (1977).
In the 1980s, she often wrote songs with her husband at the time, the famous composer Burt Bacharach. One of their most famous songs is "That's What Friends Are For". She later married composer and pianist Burt Bacharach in 1982. They adopted a son named Cristopher. They divorced in 1991.
Since 1996, she has been married to Robert Daly, a former chairman of Warner Brothers and the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. They live in Los Angeles.
In 2016, she published a book about her life called They're Playing Our Song: A Memoir. Besides music, she is also a talented painter.
