Carole Cook (born Mildred Frances Cook; January 14, 1924 – January 11, 2023) was an American actress. She was famous for her work in movies, on TV, and on stage.
Many people remember her from the comedy TV shows The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy, where she appeared with Lucille Ball. She also had well-known roles in films like The Incredible Mr. Limpet and Sixteen Candles.

Her Early Life
Carole Cook was born Mildred Frances Cook in Abilene, Texas, on January 14, 1924. She was one of four children.
She went to Baylor University and studied Greek drama. After graduating in 1945, she started acting in local theaters. In 1954, she moved to New York City and began her professional acting career there.
The famous actress Lucille Ball saw Carole perform in a play called Annie Get Your Gun. Lucille Ball was very impressed. She invited Carole to work for her company, Desilu Studios. Lucille Ball even changed her stage name to Carole, named after her favorite actress, Carole Lombard.
Movies and TV Shows
Carole Cook appeared in many movies. Some of her films include The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Sixteen Candles, Grandview, U.S.A., Summer Lovers, and Palm Springs Weekend.
She was also a guest star on many popular TV shows. These include The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy, Knight Rider, Emergency!, Magnum, P.I., Murder, She Wrote, Dynasty, Charlie's Angels, Cagney & Lacey, and Grey's Anatomy. She also had a main role in an episode of Hart to Hart.
Carole Cook also lent her voice to the animated Walt Disney Pictures movie Home on the Range. She voiced the character Pearl Gesner in the film.
Stage Performances
Besides her work in movies and TV, Carole Cook was a talented stage actress. She performed in original Broadway shows like 42nd Street and Romantic Comedy.
She was also the second actress to play the lead role of Dolly Levi in the famous musical Hello, Dolly! Her first stage performance was in 1956 in an off-Broadway play called The Threepenny Opera.
Her Personal Life
Carole Cook was married to actor and writer Tom Troupe. They were married in 1964 and stayed together until her death. Her good friend, Lucille Ball, was her matron of honor at the wedding.
Carole Cook passed away from heart failure in Beverly Hills, California, on January 11, 2023. She was almost 99 years old.
