Her Gymnastics Journey

Starting Out

Carolina Rodríguez began rhythmic gymnastics when she was seven years old. She once said, "Since the first time I saw this sport I fell in love with it." She competed for the Ritmo club. Her coaches were Nina Vitrichenko, Ruth Fernández Menéndez, and Nuria Castaño Fernández. Carolina trained for about 25 hours every week. Her big dream was to win an Olympic medal.

In 2001, she became the Junior National Vice-Champion at the World Championships in Madrid. She also won the National Champion title three times in individual performances at the Spanish Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. In 1999, she placed fourth with the Junior Group at the European Championships. That same year, her Junior Group team won first place at the International Tournament of Portimao.

In 2009, Carolina won her first World Cup medal, a bronze in the ball event, in Corbeil-Essonnes. She also earned a bronze medal in the all-around competition at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara. At the 2009 European Championships, she was chosen as the winner of the public vote.
