Einaudi has created music for many movies and TV shows. Some of these include This Is England, The Intouchables, and I'm Still Here. His music was also used in the award-winning films Nomadland and The Father.

He has also released many albums where he plays the piano and other instruments. Some well-known albums are I Giorni (2001), Nightbook (2009), and In a Time Lapse (2013). In 2019, he released a special seven-part project called Seven Days Walking.

In 2005, he received a special honor from Italy. He was named an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Early Life and Learning Music

Einaudi was born in Turin, Italy. His father, Giulio Einaudi, was a publisher who worked with famous writers. His grandfather, Luigi Einaudi, was the President of Italy from 1948 to 1955. Ludovico's mother, Renata Aldrovandi, played the piano for him when he was a child. Her father was also a musician.

Einaudi started writing music when he was a teenager. He first played a folk guitar. He then went to the Milan Conservatory to study music. He earned a diploma in composition in 1982. That same year, he took a special class with the composer Luciano Berio. Berio taught him to think openly about music. Einaudi also learned a lot by working with musicians from different countries, like Ballaké Sissoko from Mali. His music is often calm and thoughtful, using ideas from minimalism and modern pop.

Music Career Highlights

Starting Out in the 1980s

After his studies, Einaudi spent several years writing traditional classical music. His music was played in famous places like the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

In the mid-1980s, he started to create music that was more personal. He wrote pieces for dance shows and multimedia projects. He also began to focus on piano music.

He contributed several songs to The Intouchables (2011), which was a very popular French movie. His music has also been featured in the British TV series This Is England and Derek.
