Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall was an exciting massively multiplayer online game (MMO). It was created by Cartoon Network and a South Korean company called Grigon Entertainment. The game used the Unity engine to run.

When it first launched, you needed a paid membership to play the full game. Free players could only explore a small part of it. On August 29, 2013, the game's servers were turned off. Fans later brought it back unofficially as two different games in 2017. These were FusionFall: Retro (the original game) and FusionFall: Legacy (the original game with new stuff). However, in April 2020, Cartoon Network asked for these fan games to be taken down. This meant Retro was removed, and Legacy was stopped.

The Story of FusionFall

The game's story begins with a bad guy named Lord Fuse. He travels through space on his planet, Planet Fusion. Lord Fuse destroys planets by "eating" them. Earth was his next target!

To attack Earth, he dropped something called Fusion Matter. This matter would turn into warped, monster-like versions of nearby objects. Your main goal in the game was to stop Lord Fuse's evil plan. You had to defeat his monsters and save Earth.

How to Play FusionFall

In FusionFall, you played as a character you created yourself. The game featured over 50 characters from different Cartoon Network shows. It also had many areas based on these shows. Some characters could even join you as companions. They would help you during your adventures.

You saw your character from a third-person view. A special screen called a HUD showed you important game information. When you defeated enemies, your character would level up. You also earned money to buy new clothes and better weapons.

Combat had two main types of attacks: ranged and melee. You could switch between them easily. A cool feature in FusionFall was using nanos. These were small avatars that gave you special abilities for a short time. You could get a nano by defeating an evil copy of a character. Then you chose one of three powers it would give you.

There were four main characters who acted as your Guides. These were Ben Tennyson, Dexter, Edd, and Mojo Jojo. They gave you quests to complete. When you finished a quest, they would reward you with cool equipment and items.

Originally, you needed a monthly payment to play past Level Five. These payments were made using special cards bought in stores. But on April 16, 2010, the whole game became free to play! If you had unused cards, you could get your money back. Since the game was for kids, it had parental controls. Parents could see what their children were doing. They could also limit how much their child's account could chat with other players.

Special Game Events

FusionFall often had special celebrations for holidays. These included Thanksgiving or Christmas. These events usually gave out special codes for unique holiday items. The game world would also get holiday decorations. You could even find new missions from special guest characters. Holiday events could last for weeks or even months. Sometimes, one event would lead right into the next!

The game also regularly added new missions, characters, and areas. These often featured elements from newer Cartoon Network shows. An area called the Academy was also added. This is where new players created their characters and started their journey. However, FusionFall's development eventually stopped. Cartoon Network wanted to focus on other games like Project Exonaut and FusionFall Heroes. There was also a special in-game outfit called the Holo Suit. It would change its look to match current game events and the time of year.

Game Release Details

When FusionFall first came out, you had to pay a subscription for the full game. Only a small part of the game was free. Free accounts could only play in the "future" part of the game. They could also only collect four nanos and create two characters. The full game had 40 nanos in total. Before new additions, there were 36 nanos. To create up to four characters, players had to earn all 36 nanos during the beta testing phase. If players had characters that went into the "past" areas during early access or a previous subscription, those characters were locked. You needed an active subscription to play them again.

You could buy different subscription plans. These included one-month, three-month, year-long, and even family plans. A special FusionFall Victory Pack Exclusive was sold when the game launched. It included a four-month subscription, a game guide, and exclusive outfits and weapons. If you bought it from GameStop, you also got a T-shirt! These Victory Packs were later stopped. They were replaced by one-month and three-month game cards. You could buy these at Target stores.

On April 19, 2010, the game became completely free. This meant everything that members used to get was now available to everyone for free.

FusionFall Heroes

On March 25, 2013, a new FusionFall game was released. This was about five months before the original game shut down. It was called FusionFall Heroes. In this game, you didn't play as your own created character. Instead, you could play as different versions of your favorite Cartoon Network characters!

This game's story happens at the same time as Fuse's attack in the original game. Some of the first characters you could play included Finn the Human, Fionna the Human, and Marceline from Adventure Time. You could also play as Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory, Mordecai and Rigby from Regular Show, and Four Arms and Feedback from Ben 10. Other characters were Gumball Watterson from The Amazing World of Gumball, Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls, and Johnny Bravo from his own show.

In FusionFall Heroes, you could find different costumes for your characters. There were also "eggs" that could unlock new costumes for different heroes. If you bought an egg and it gave you a costume your hero already had, that hero would get stronger. All of its stats would increase!
