Casey Bailey (born October 27, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey player. He is currently a player who can sign with any team. He last played for ERC Ingolstadt in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) in Germany.
Bailey played college hockey for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He made history as the first player from Penn State to play in the NHL. Bailey played 13 games in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators.

Casey Bailey's Hockey Journey
Early Years and College Hockey
When he was young, Bailey played in the 2004 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. He was part of a youth hockey team from Alaska. Later, he played junior A hockey for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. This was in the British Columbia Hockey League from 2009 to 2012.
After that, Bailey went to play college hockey. He joined the Penn State Nittany Lions. In his third year, the 2014–15 season, he was one of the top scorers. He finished his college career with 45 goals and 80 points in 96 games.
Joining the NHL
Casey Bailey was not chosen in the NHL Entry Draft. However, he signed his first professional contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This happened on March 21, 2015. He was the first Penn State player to sign an NHL contract. He was also the first to play in the NHL.
Many other NHL teams were interested in Bailey. He had even tried out with the Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames. He made his NHL debut on March 26, 2015. He scored his first NHL goal on April 11, 2015. This was against Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens.
Playing in the AHL
For the 2015–16 season, Bailey played for the Toronto Marlies. This team is connected to the Maple Leafs in the American Hockey League (AHL). He scored 18 points in 38 games.
Then, he was part of a big trade to the Ottawa Senators organization. He finished that season with the Senators' AHL team, the Binghamton Senators. He scored 7 goals and 21 points in 30 games there.
Time with the Senators
On July 1, 2016, Bailey signed a new contract with the Ottawa Senators. He started the 2016–17 season with the Binghamton Senators. He was called up to Ottawa a few times that season.
He played 7 games for Ottawa but did not score any points. He finished the season with Binghamton. He had 21 goals and 37 points in 62 games. He was chosen to represent Binghamton at the 2017 AHL All-Star Classic.
Moving to Bridgeport
After leaving the Senators, Bailey tried out for the New York Islanders. He then signed a one-year AHL contract with their team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. This was on October 2, 2017. He had a good season with Bridgeport. He scored 18 goals and 41 points.
Playing Overseas
Since he didn't get a strong offer in North America, Bailey decided to play in Europe. He signed with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). This was in September 2018. He played 45 games, scoring 1 goal and 5 points.
Return to North America and Back to Europe
After his time in the KHL, Bailey returned to North America. He had a tryout with the Hershey Bears in the AHL. He then signed with the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL. He played well, scoring 11 points in 9 games.
He was then loaned to the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL. He played 5 games there, scoring 1 goal and 3 points.
Later that same day, he signed a contract in Europe. He joined the Swedish team Växjö Lakers in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He played 28 games, scoring 7 goals and 11 points. The playoffs were stopped that year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Playing in Germany
On September 4, 2020, Bailey signed a one-year contract in Germany. He joined the Iserlohn Roosters in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He played three seasons with the Roosters.
After his contract ended, he signed with another DEL team. He joined ERC Ingolstadt on May 22, 2023.

Casey Bailey was born in Anchorage, Alaska. His parents are Glen and Dawn Bailey. He has a brother named Kyle and a sister named Jessica. When he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he was studying economics at university.
