Early Life and Music School

Cayo Sila Godoy was born in Villarrica, Paraguay, on December 4, 1919. His family loved music. His mother and uncles were talented musicians. They taught him how to play many instruments. These included the piano, violin, mandolin, harp, and guitar.

When he was young, Cayo studied music with his uncle, Marciano Echauri. Later, at age 16, he learned about music harmony from Juan Carlos Moreno Gonzalez.

At 16, Cayo left his hometown of Villarrica. He received a special scholarship to study at the National Music Conservatory in Asunción, Paraguay. This was a big achievement! By the time he was 24, he had graduated. He became a professor of music theory and musicology. This meant he could teach others about how music works.

After graduating, he received another grant. This allowed him to continue his music studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He stayed there for nine years. During this time, he studied with Consuelo Mallo López. He worked hard to make his guitar playing even better. He became a true master of the instrument.
