Cementon has had a few different names over the years! It was first known as "Siegfried's Ferry." This was because it was right across the Lehigh River from a place called Siegfried. Siegfried later joined with two other villages to become Northampton in 1902.
In 1828, a bridge was built across the river. After the bridge was finished, the town's name changed to "Siegfried's Bridge."
The town got its current name, "Cementon," around 1900 or 1901. This happened after a large quarry and mill were built there. These facilities were part of the Whitehall Portland Cement Works. Since the town became a major center for making cement, it was renamed Cementon.
