Cernier's Location in Switzerland
Cernier was found in the western part of Switzerland. It was part of the Neuchâtel canton. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes. It has rolling hills and green valleys.
Becoming Part of Val-de-Ruz
On January 1, 2013, Cernier changed. It joined with 14 other nearby towns. These towns included Boudevilliers, Chézard-Saint-Martin, and Fontainemelon. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality. This new municipality is called Val-de-Ruz.
This change meant Cernier was no longer a separate municipality. It became a part of the bigger Val-de-Ruz area. This kind of joining helps towns work together. It can make local government more efficient.
