Cerro Mohinora is a tall mountain in Mexico. It's an extinct volcano, which means it won't erupt anymore! This mountain is part of the Sierra Madre Occidental range. You can find it in the state of Chihuahua, in a place called Guadalupe y Calvo.

It's the highest point in Chihuahua, standing super tall at about 3,300 meters (or 10,827 feet) above sea level. The weather there gets very cold in winter. Summers are cooler, not too hot.

How Cerro Mohinora Formed

Long, long ago, during a time called the Paleogene period, Cerro Mohinora started to form. There was a lot of volcanic activity then. Volcanoes erupted, sending out lava and ash. This helped create the huge Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range.

Later, during the Pleistocene Ice Age, the Earth's crust moved a lot. This movement pushed Cerro Mohinora even higher. That's how it reached its amazing height of over 3,300 meters! The mountain is mostly made of igneous rock. This kind of rock forms when hot lava or magma cools down.

Summers are cool, with temperatures usually staying below 25 °C (77 °F). At night, it often gets cooler than 10 °C (50 °F). There are heavy rainstorms from June to October.
