Starting at Roma and Lecce

Cesare Bovo began his football journey in the youth system of AS Roma. He played his first professional game in the Coppa Italia during the 2001–02 season.

In 2002, he moved to Lecce. He made his Serie A debut on October 5, 2003. On May 2, 2004, he scored a goal against Internazionale, which helped Lecce avoid being moved down to a lower league. He scored two goals that season, which was his personal best at the time.

Time with Parma and Return to Roma

In 2004, Bovo joined Parma on a temporary deal. He scored two goals again that season, matching his previous record.

He returned to his hometown club, Roma, in 2005. He often faced strong competition from other defenders. His coach sometimes played him as a full-back instead of his usual centre-back position.

Moving to Palermo and Torino

In 2006, Bovo officially joined Palermo. In January 2007, he moved to Torino for a short time. He played his first match for Torino on February 24, 2007.
